No experience is necessary. Our guides will be with you every step of the way, giving you the best tips and showing you the ropes as you chase big Texas whitetail bucks and exotics. McGrath Ranch is a great place for first-time hunters and seasoned veterans alike.
Following a successful hunt, your guide transitions into the final phase. After you've taken your trophy photos, McGrath Ranch staff will quarter the harvest on the hunter's behalf, ensuring everything is handled properly and professionally.
Throughout the hunt, our guides serve not only as trackers but as mentors, providing instruction and tips to help you become a better hunter. Whether you're new to hunting or an experienced marksman, our guides are patient educators ready to share their knowledge of stalking strategies, shooting techniques, and proper harvesting of game.
Every room comes with a private bathroom. Accommodation options include: one secluded king-size master suite, two queen-size suites with private patios, one bedroom with a queen-size bed, one large bedroom with six full-size beds, one bedroom with four twin-size beds (two bunk beds), and two wheelchair-accessible rooms with queen-size beds. The lodge sleeps 20+ guests.
McGrath Ranch is equipped with everything you need to relax and recharge. Amenities include high-speed WiFi, washer and dryer, coffee bar, pool, pool table, poker table, indoor and outdoor lounging areas, a campfire ring, BBQ pit, shooting range, and multiple fishing ponds, plus our 21-acre lake.
Be sure to bring your Texas hunting license, binoculars, snake boots or snake guards, a neck gaiter, bug spray, and sunblock. We also recommend dressing in layers. South Texas mornings can be cool while afternoons warm up quickly. Contact us if you have questions about specific gear for your hunt type.
If approved in advance, you can expect any of the following: South Texas breakfast, Texas BBQ, burgers, game-featured dishes, and of course Tex-Mex. Our meals are chef-prepared and designed to fuel a full day in the field.
To prepare for your South Texas trophy hunt, practice with your equipment ahead of time. Shoot several rounds of target practice and make sure you're comfortable with the gun and ammo you plan to use. If you'd like to sharpen your skills before you arrive, our shooting range and sporting clays course are available to all guests.
Yes. The ranch features a 4,000-foot high-fenced airstrip with a 100' × 70' hangar, making fly-in arrivals convenient for guests traveling by private aircraft.
